Hi! My name is Laurie Yakish. I’d like an opportunity to tell you about me and my dog training programs.
I have been training dogs in one way or another since I was eight years old. I really love what I do and take it very seriously. The core of my mission statement is: First Do No Harm. Over the years I have done traditional training with choke collars and stern commands (before I knew any better). I have done lure and reward based training. After much research and education I now do only positive reinforcement clicker based training .
I am certified through the Animal Behavior College. I have certificates through both a Clicker Training Expo and a John Rogers Aggression Seminar. I can help you with basic obedience training and a broad range of behavior problems such as; housebreaking, biting, jumping up and various aggression issues. Together you and I will get you and your family the dog you deserve.
I am also the mother of a son on the autism spectrum. He like many others with autistic or developmental disabilities has a special affinity for animals. After years of using behavior modification tools with him and also in my dog training it finally dawned on me that there must be a way of integrating these approaches to help our kids.
